Do I need to uninstall previous version before installing newest?

You do not have to uninstall azzCardfile version 4, as both versions may co-exist on the same system. You can even open an azzCardfile file with different program versions by selecting “Open With” in Windows Explorer popup menu.

If you decide to return to using version 4 after making changes in your data files, you should export the changes back to version 4 format: select File | Export | azzCardfile version 4. After that you may safely uninstall version 5 and continue to use version 4.

I can't download the app. The browser displays "azzCardfile_5xxx_Setup.exe isn't commonly downloaded...".

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen filter may mistakenly label the azzCardfile installation file as unsafe and prevent the download from being completed.

Download the file by following procedure.

I can't install the app. The system displays errors.

Give all necessary Windows permissions during the installation. (It is hard to get necessary certifications, but I am working on that).

Possible solutions if there were problems with the installation:

• Make sure the installation file is on your local drive (not in the network)
• Run installation file as Administrator
• Temporary remove sample.azzdb file from \Documents\azzCardfile Files\
• If you have version 5 beta, uninstall it
• Turn off Controlled Folder Access: Windows Security | Virus & threat protection | Virus & threat protection settings | Controlled folder access | off

If none of these solutions worked, write me, and wait for the fix. Let me know your Windows version, what error messages you get (send screenshots)

How to transfer azzCardfile and all it's data to other computer?

You can easy transfer data from one computer to other.

You need:

1. azzCardfile installation file. Download newest from here.
2. Your license file azzCardfileLicense.txt. If you don't find it in your old PC, search your e-mails and find my message with subj. starting azzCardfile License..., a file is attached there.
3. Your data files (.azzdb, .azzx and .azzx). The default place for data files is azzCardfile Files folder in your Documents. Search your system, if you are not sure.

After you locate necessary files:

1. Run installation file on your new computer
2. Activate your license. How?
3. Copy your data files to the new computer. I recommend to use default folder azzCardfile files in your Documents.

Will azzCardfile modify any of my system files?

During installation azzCardfile version 5 makes only one entry to Windows Registry for .azzdb file type association. After this Registry modification you can simply open Windows Explorer and double-click on any azzCardfile data file and Windows will know what to do - it will open azzCardfile and load the file that you selected. All settings for azzCardfile version 5 (last used data file, window position on screen etc.) are stored in .ini files.

Where is my license file?

During registration the license file has been sent as an attachment to your provided e-mail. The message Subject starts with: azzCardfile License; message Sender contains azzcardfile and a message contains a small (4 KB) text file attachment azzCardfile5-License.txt. Spam filters may prevent the delivery of the E-mail message and attachment. Please review your deleted items and junk mail folders for the License file.

Search your Computer for a file azzCardfile5-License.txt. If you can’t find it, search your E-mails for a Subject containing azzCardfile License. If you lost your license file, complete the online form. Enter your Name, E-Mail and postal address which was used for azzCardfile registration.

How to activate my License?

Activate the License from azzCardfile program. If it not installed yet on your computer download it from here.

There are two ways to activate.

If you have a License file (azzCardfile5-License.txt or azzCardfileLicense.txt):

1. Go to Help|About and click the Import License File button.
2. In the Open window that appears, click the folder where you saved your License file to highlight it.
3. Click Ok. A confirmation message appears if the license has been read and activated.

If you got your License by E-mail:

1. Find E-mail message with Subj. starting with: azzCardfile License. Select all message text (Ctrl+A) and copy it (Ctrl+C)
2. In azzCardfile go to Help|About and click the Paste License Text button.
3. A confirmation message appears if the license has been read and activated.

May I use my license file on another computer I use?

Yes. According License Agreement:

"...One licensed copy of azzCardfile may either be used by a single person who uses the software personally on one or more computers, or installed on a single workstation used non-simultaneously by multiple people, but not both. ...."

For corporate use or network you must either purchase number of licenses equal to PCs that will use azzCardfile or Site License. See pricing information.

What is cards count limit? What is card size limit?

Cards limit is something about 2,000,000,000. One card can hold large amount of data, limited by system memory resources. Tested 100,000 cards, size of one card was over 10 MB.

However, if cards count is very large, some actions (add new card, paste card from clipboard, etc.) can take a long time.

How to backup and restore azz files?

For unexpected events like computer crash, it is advisable to save your data files *.azzdb frequently. After you open a file something.azzdb, it's backup copy (something.azzdb.backup) is created in azzCardfile Files\azzCardfile Backups folder.

Restoring a something.azzdb.backup file is easy. Just copy it back to azzCardfile Files folder and rename it back to something.azzdb.

Where to keep azzCardfile data files?

The best place for azz files is azzCardfile Files created in your Documents after installation azzCardfile. I recommend to keep your license file there too.

How to make card text larger?

Click View | Zoom in or turn wheel with pressed Ctrl button.

How to use the program with a command line which will allow to open a specific file in a specific card?

You can run azzCardfile from command line (Start | Run) or shortcut, using parameters. First parameter is file name, second - card title. For instance, command line could be like this:

azzCardfile C:\Users\USER\Documents\azzCardfile Files\abc.azzdb John

When you run this command, azzCardfile opens file abc.azz and shows first card with John in the title. It could be useful in some automation tasks, batch files. You can put such command in Windows Scheduled Tasks.
